March 25th @ BK Lounge

Last night at Burger King the Stranger Creek Band played as usual but Mary and Garry Bichelmeyer were back from Texas. Great seeing/hearing them play and sing again.

Gordon Riley played lead guitar, Marvin Bredemeier on fiddle, and Marvin Gregg on drums. Ron Fine joined them playing guitar.

Melissa Petropoulos and Jerome Oberle were special guests. We celebrated Mary and Marvin B’s birthdays.

Last Night at BK Lounge

Even though the weather was bitter cold outside, last night at Burger King the Stranger Creek Band played as usual but there were different members. Gordon Riley played lead guitar, Marvin Bredemeier on fiddle, Arnie Johnson on guitar, Marvin Gregg on drums, Chuck Yates on base.

Mike Riley, Ron Fine and Jerome Oberle were special guests. There were several birthdays and lots of cookies and goodies.

Keith Nielsen funeral arrangements & obituary

Keith Lewis Nielsen, 75 of Shawnee, KS passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014.  A visitation will be held Thursday, February 13th from 5:00-8:00 PM with funeral service on Friday, February 14th at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Keith was born February 22, 1938 to Pete and Grace Nielsen.  During his life he lived in Greenfield, IA, Kansas City, KS and Shawnee, KS.  Keith married Patricia Van Eaton on May 25, 1958.  He worked for the United States Postal Service as a Clerk until his retirement in 2007.

Keith was a member of the De Soto United Methodist Church.  In his free time, Keith enjoyed being the webmaster and sound man for the Stranger Creek Band.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, looking through his photo albums and collecting model tractors.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Grace Nielsen and a son-in-law, Edward Gilmore.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Pat Nielsen; son, Kevin and wife Barbara Nielsen; daughter, Kim Gilmore; brother, Gale and wife Ellie Nielsen; grandsons, Jason and wife Randi Gilmore, Chad Gilmore, Eric Nielsen, and Jeremy and wife Val Dawson; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Gilmore, Emma Gilmore, and Kayden Rushmeyer.

We were very sad to learn that Keith Nielsen passed away yesterday afternoon, Feb 9th.  Funeral arrangements will follow later.  It will be at 94th & State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.  We will miss our Web Master and Soundman.
